A New Timber Frame On Devil Lake

This timber frame cottage sits on a beautiful waterfront lot on Devil Lake in South Frontenac. It is a masterpiece.

Gibson Timber Frames with Ian Moffat of True Haven Homes as the general contractor, built a traditional timber frame with mortice and tenon joints using antique hewn timber. These large timbers were salvaged from local barns and homes that were built over 100 years ago. It is impossible to replicate the texture and feel of antique beams originally shaped by a hewing axe in the woods. The Wood Source from Manotick supplied the timbers.

Our experienced timber frame carpenters selected the antique timber pieces based on size, texture, and quality. Using a depth of knowledge and skill from experience and practice the carpenters created the traditional joinery with lines, levels and squares. They matched connecting pieces to give the newly built frame an original feel. True Haven Homes used skip planed boards for the ceiling and reclaimed wood for the floor. The exterior was done in cedar shingle.

Skilled carpentry, attention to detail, and excellent design make this a building to be proud of. This well constructed home will stand for generations to come.
